GOSHEN -- Wilma Hess, 89, of 62719 C.R. 9, Goshen, died Monday (April 24, 2006) at home. She was born Nov. 1, 1916, in Elkhart, to Oscar Stealy and Lucretia (Pletcher) Stealy. She married Lloyd H. Hess on July 21, 1936, in Goshen. He died June 6, 2005. Mrs. Hess is survived by one daughter, Carol Ehret of Goshen; one son, David (Diane) Hess of Goshen; one sister, Emma Rohrer of Elkhart; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Blanche Sailor, Myrtle Cook and Madge Long; and four brothers, John, Roy, Earl and Glenn Stealy. Mrs. Hess was a piano teacher for 72 years. She was a member of Bethel Missionary Church, a past president of the Hubbard Hill Auxiliary, past president of the Wakarusa Domestic Extension Homemakers, past member of the Elkhart County Extension Board, a church choir director and was involved with the music ministry for many years. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen.
Friends also may call one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Friday funeral service at Bethel Missionary Church, 63503 C.R. 7, Goshen. Pastor Jim Smith of the church will officiate. Burial will be in Yellow Creek Cemetery.
