Daughter of James Albert and Julie Pettry Honaker
Mrs. Burgess was a retired Fayette County school teacher having taught at the Glen Jean, Scarbro and Oak Hill schools and was a member of the Oak Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in her death by her husband Clyde A. Burgess.
Survivors include a son Dr. Clyde A. Burgess and a daughter Kathryn Terwilleger.
