Born in Salt Lake City, UT on January 22, 1930 to Angelo and Carmella Disorbio, she completed their family as the youngest after her sister Margaret and brother Mike. She grew and lived in the same valley graduating from West High School.
She met her soul mate walking down Main St. with friends one day. He would remain the light behind her eyes until the day she left our world. Jennie and Virgil Benton were married June 22, 1952 and remain devoted to each other from this world to the next.
Devoted Catholics, together they raised five children providing a paradigm of perseverance, hard work, gentleness, as well as silliness. In 1996 they relocated to Anacortes, WA where they enjoyed the beauty of living next to the Pacific Ocean. Their home remained open to visits from family close and distant alike.
After the loss of her husband, life would find her back in the Salt Lake Valley where great- grandchildren delighted in making memories with her gracious, caring presence.
She was not ours to keep. Virgil, greeted with beautiful smiles from Jennie, came to bring her home. She left to join him in love on October 26, 2018. Seen off from Earth by loved ones. A part of her will live forever in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and her everlasting legacy of commitment toward those we hold most dear. We forever love our sweet Mom and Grandma.
Jennie is preceded to heaven by her devout husband Virgil Benton Jr., cherished children Russell, Mary Anne (Redington), parents, siblings, and many extended and loved family members.
She is survived by her children Susan (Roy Skollingsberg), Paul (Tami), Peter (Sandy), grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday November 3, 2018 at Saint Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in the Holy Family Hall, 1375 E. Spring Lane, Salt Lake City with a viewing at 9:00 a.m., and a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. prior to mass. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Committal: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Neil O'Donnell & Sons
