JONES-GIRAULT
Miss Bernice Jones and Mr. Shepard Girault were married in Delhi, Louisiana, on the evening of the 3rd of January, 1923, with only a few close relatives present to witness the ceremony. Miss Jones is the young daughter of Dr. & Mrs. C. L. Jones of Monroe, both of whom are prominent in social, club and business circles in Monroe and elsewhere. Mrs. Jones was formerly president of the Federated Women's Clubs of Louisiana and aside from being well known in this capacity has prominent family connections. Mr. Girault comes from an old New Orleans family of high standing. He is a civil engineer with temporary headquarters in Rayville, Louisiana.
There is an unusual romantic angle to this wedding, due to the extreme youthfulness of the bride and groom and the absolute secrecy of the intentions of both. It came as a complete surprise to the bride's father and mother as they had other plans for their daughter, namely the finishing of her education and extensive traveling later.
Miss Bernice graduated from the City High School last June and in September entered Sophie Newcomb College. Returning to school after the holiday vacation in accompany of her mother, remained in Rayville for a few days to visit with relatives. Cupid intervened however and all the plans so carefully formulated by the bride's mother were swept aside. Mr. & Mrs. Girault are for time being making their home in Rayville with the possibility that Mr. Girault will, in the near future, receive a commission in South America.
