James Ira Alford, 88, passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2013, in Clinton, Oklahoma. He was born in Coldwater, Kansas, on February 23rd, 1925, the son of Hattie and Ira Talmage Alford.

He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II on an LST vessel in the South Pacific.

James then worked in the Oil field as a roughneck and truck driver and also worked extensively in Gas Plant Construction.

James was an avid Horseman who raised and ran numerous horses on various racetracks throughout the Southwest.

James is survived by one son, Bart Milo Alford of Elk City OK; one sister, Wanda Paulhamus of Amarillo TX; two grandsons, James Wesley and Billy Ray Alford, both of Roswell, NM; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia.
