Mildred Marie Blankenship Rozell, age 89, passed away March 20, 2010, in Christian Health Care in Nixa, Mo., after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Mildred was born January 17, 1921 in Reuter, Mo., to James and Laura Jenkins Williams. Her parents preceded her in death as well as the father of her children, George Blankenship; husband, Jess Rozell; two brothers, Manford (Mutt) and Jack Williams; four sisters, Shirley Williams, Virgie Claussen, Myrtle Forrester and Maxine McPherson; one son, Hugh F. Blankenship and three great-great grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Aleen and David Emerson of Clever, Mo., Betty Jo and James Yeary of Nixa, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Betty Blankenship of Springfield, Mo.; brother, Dean Williams and Connie of Springfield, Mo.; brother-in-law, Byron Forrester of Tulsa, Okla.; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Mildred was the cook of the family and loved to fix large meals for her kids and grandchildren. She helped with the grandchildren in the summers and their favorite dish by far was her chocolate gravy. She was a true country lady at heart and loved raising her chickens even after moving to town. If given the choice, Mildred would choose to be gardening, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. She will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in Adams Funeral Home, Nixa; burial will follow in Wolfe Cemetery Protem. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010, in the funeral home.
