He attended school in Windsor before serving in the US Navy during the Vietnam War where he was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Viet-Nam Service Medal with Bronze Star and the Republic of Viet-Nam Campaign Medal.
He was married to Cheryl Ann Wood on August 17, 1968 in Windsor. Together they returned to school in 1990 and proudly earn their GEDs.
Charlie went to work for Miller Construction soon after being honorably discharged from the Navy. He worked at Miller’s for thirty six years, before retiring as a foreman in 2003.
Charlie was very proud of his service to his country and was active in the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 9685 including serving as Commander, as well as a member of American Legion Post 25, 40/8 and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 1 as well as the Sons of the American Legion Post 25 as a member and advisor.
He enjoyed taking care of pets, especially his cat, “Paint” as well as gardening and growing tomatoes.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cheryl Ann, of Windsor, children, Charles W. Mason and his wife, Tina of Windsor, Shane E. Mason and his wife, Nancy of Swanzey, NH, and Sherri A. Mason of Quechee; seven grandchildren Crystal, Shawn, Emmaline, Lauryne, McKenna, Mitchell and Mason; a sister Amy Mason of Windsor; brother Kenneth Mason and his wife, Darlene of Springfield, two nephews and his beloved cat, “Paint”.
A funeral service will be held at the funeral home.
