Virginia D. Shambo, 76, died Feb. 23, 2004, at Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor.

She was born March 20, 1927, in Windsor, the daughter of Ralph and Esther (Ellis) Davis.

She graduated from Windsor High School in 1945.

She married Kenneth Mason in 1945 in Claremont, N.H., and they lived in Virginia for a short time. They later divorced. She married Charles Slocum on April 25, 1961, in Cornish, N.H. He died in 1966. She married Rodney Shambo on Dec. 22, 1967, in Windsor. He died in 1992.

Mrs. Shambo worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Windsor for 30 years before retiring.

She was a life member of American Legion Post 25 Auxiliary, past president of American Legion Auxiliary Department of Vermont, past national chairperson of the National American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Windsor, Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary in Windsor, the 8 and 40 Salon 120 of Windham and Windsor counties, past Department Tell Chapeau of Vermont, member of the World War Mothers, and secretary of the past President's Club of the Vermont American Legion Auxiliary. She was a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in White River Junction for several years.

Survivors include a daughter, Amy Mason of Windsor; two sons, Kenneth Mason of Springfield and Charles Mason of Windsor; two brothers, Walter Davis of West Rutland and Wayne Davis of Springfield; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Davis; two sisters, Caroline Tetreault and Pauline Robinson; and a grandson.
