Robert Larue (Robbie) Bruce was born on August 2, 1936 in Buffalo Valley, OKlahoma to Robert Marion and Florence Ola (Young) Bruce and passed from this life October 6, 2018 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

As a child, Robbie attended school at Laura before attending Buffalo Valley School where he graduated in 1954. During the summers of his teenage years, Robbie hitch-hiked to California to work in the log woods. After graduation from high school, Robbie joined the United States Army and served for three years - mainly in Germany.

As a young man, Robbie met and married Eunice Winlock and they shared a happy life in the Yanush/Buffalo Valley area until Eunice passed in 1984.

Robbie worked construction and did carpentry work for many years before beginning work for the Latimer County rural Water District #2. He retired from there in the early 2000's.

Robbie was blessed to find love again when her married Clara "LaVerne" Gray. Robbie and LaVerne made their home in Talihina where they lived happily until she passed in 2011.

When Robbie's health began to decline, he chose to live in the Talihina Veteran's Center. The family would like to thank the Veteran's Center for the excellent care that he received while there.

Robbie was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Eunice, brother Tony Bruce, sisters; Glenn Roden, Lillie Brunson, Edith Singleton, infant sister Lila Bruce, and his second wife LaVerne.

Robbie is survived by a stepson, Larry Gray and brother-in-law Clifford Mangrum, sister-in-laws Doris, Nadine and Carolyn, several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, others relatives and a hose of beloved friends.

Pallbearers are Robbie's great-nephews. Honorary pallbearers are long-time friends - Tobe Anderson, Preston Benge, Brady Mattox, Roy McCormick, Fred Hoglan, Vernis King, James Cooley, David Sprouse and Ellis Angel.

Funeral Service will be held at the Buffalo Valley School, October 11, 2018 at 2:00 pm. with the Rev. Kenny Bryant and Rev. Chester Cooley officiating. Internment will follow at Laura MeGee Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Burkhart Funeral Service of Talihina.
