Mrs. John Lohmiller.
On Monday morning last occurred the death from appoplexy, Mrs. John Lohmiller, one of Monroe townships early settlers, aged and highly respected citizens, at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 12 days. She was the wife of John Lohmiller who is not only well known in this township but throughout the county of Allen, and her death was a shock to her many relatives and friends in the neighborhood where she resided and the entire community, as as it came so suddenly and unexpectedly, as the lady apparently having shown no symptoms of serious illness. She arose in the morning as usual and partook of the breakfast meal with the family as usual and went about the house performing her household duties until toward evening when she retired for the night. The symptoms grew worse and the family physician, Dr. S.E. Mentzer, was summoned but his assistance was of no avail, and at midnight she peacefully passed away to that home from which none ever return. She was united in marriage to John Lohmiller 34 years, 2 months and 8 days ago, the fruits of this union being four children, all of which her aged companion serve the departed to mourn their loss of a loving companion and mother. The community has lost a good neighbor and citizen. She was a devoted christian woman and was a member of an earnest worker with the Flat Rock Lutheran class, from which church the funeral was held, on Wednesday last, her pastor Rev. D.F. Kain conducting the services in the presence of a crowded house. The remains were interred in the Flat Rock graveyard near the church.
