On August 22, 1966, Gene married Lavina Turney in Woodward, OK. To this union two daughters were born Regina and Tereisa and a special adopted son Robert joined after. They made their home in Shattuck, OK in 1967 and lived their till 2012. They then moved to Woodward, OK. Gene was a rancher/farmer. He enjoyed horseshoes, cards, dominoes, puzzles, traveling in their R.V. and antiquing.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lavina Akers, parents Irving and Ava Akers, brother George Akers, and an infant brother.
He is survived by his two daughters Regina Lyons and husband Ken of Conroe, TX and Tereisa England and husband Lance; adopted son Robert Turney of Ramah, NM; brother Robert Akers and wife Doris of Follett, TX and sister Iva Ann Barber of Shattuck, OK; eight grandchildren: Ariane, Corian, Tasia England; Caddo and Keena Turney; Mickey Lyons, Rex Lyons and Heather Warner; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
