Our precious Nell Sogard was sweetly serenaded as she entered the arms of Jesus on October 1, 2018. She was an exceptional woman who lived and loved fully.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 6, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, Wichita Falls, TX. The family will be at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home, Friday, October 5, 2018 from 6-7 PM, for visitation.
Nellie Jo was born on March 3, 1925 to Braxton and Nellie Mae (Hefner) Jones. Their family would eventually total 11 living on their farm in Slaton, Texas.
After high school Nell put herself through secretarial school and joined the civil service, where she flourished. She advanced and earned numerous commendations and awards, eventually serving as admin assistant for three different Air Force Base Commanders.
On October 2, 1954, Nell married her beloved Gail Sogard. Together they raised three children and were active in their church, serving as youth counselors and on various committees, as well as serving in numerous business and civic organizations. Nellie Jo held offices in the PTA, the American Business Women's Assoc., United Methodist Women, and other organizations.
She had a huge heart and never turned away anyone in need. Nell loved to sew and to craft, to dance and to play bridge, to travel and to entertain, but she loved her Lord and her family most of all. She especially cherished her grandkids and great grandkids and she was adored in return.
Nellie Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Gail, and son, Bill Sogard; brothers James Paul, Bobby and Donald Jones; and sisters Medaline Peterson, Tommy Ruth Lutz, and Oneta Sedgewick. She leaves behind her brother, Douglas Jones and his wife, Doris; and sister Nancye May; daughters Vicki Partridge and Cheri Althaus and spouse, Chris Althaus; granddaughter Heather and her husband Jimmie Lee; grandsons, Lance Partridge, Clayton Sogard, Aaron Althaus and wife Marla, Clinton Althaus and Chad Althaus and his wife Rachel; two great grand- children, Shaun and Jaiden Partridge, as well as countless others whose lives she touched.
We will miss Nell's bright outlook and caring heart, her sharp wit and zest for life… and those snazzy outfits!

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls or to First United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls.
