ETTA LAURSON
Etta Jean Laurson, 73, of Centerville, died Monday, May 28, 2001, at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville. She was born June 19, 1927, the daughter of John and Mary (Guzzi) Maletta.
She married Robert Laurson May 29, 1947. He preceded her in death October, 1991.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Laurson and his wife, Beverly, of Centerville; a daughter, JoAnn Laurson of Clarkdale; a sister, Lorraine Ramos of Centerville; brothers, John Maletta of Mystic and Lewis Maletta of Huntsboro, Ala.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; brothers, Joseph, Mike, Tony and Robert Maletta; and sisters, Elsie Pontious and Mary Ranes.
She graduated from Centerville Community Schools in 1944. She worked at the Appanoose County Auditor's Office, later becoming county auditor. After retirement she worked at the Centerville Community Betterment at the Group Home and as secretary and bookkeeper for Appanoose Community Care Service in Centerville. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Mystic and later St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville. She belonged to the RA club in Clarkdale.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville with Father Joe Miller, C.PP.S., officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. Visitation will be from 1 to 5 p.m. today, Tuesday, at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, then moved to St. Mary's Catholic Church for a prayer service starting at 6:30 p.m. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at St. Mary's.
Memorials may be given to the Mercy Hospice in Centerville and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
