Mrs. Catherine E. " Splitstone" Ward was born on May 21, 1923 in Fremont, Michigan, the daughter to Mr. Wallace H. Splitstone and Mrs. Nada E. "Misner" Splitstone. She moved to the Buck Creek area at age 9 and attended Buck Creek School. Catherine passed away in her residence on May 13, 2008 at the age of 84.

Catherine married Mr. Murt Ward on January 1, 1961 in Lafayette, Indiana and they had three children to this union.

Catherine worked at Alcoa, Brown Rubber, Loeb's Department Store, as a waitress at Purdue University, and had a day care center in her home for 23 years. She was a member of Church of the Brethren for 72 years.

Catherine is Survived by her husband, Murt; son, Dennis L. Ward (wife Lara); daughter, Julie Leming; grandchildren Kelley, Ashley, Amber, Zachary, Natasha, Kyra, Michael and Heather, and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother (1921-1921), infant sister Margaret Splitstone, (1922-1922) and brother, Milan "Mike" Lee Splitstone (1924-2005)
