He was born Dec. 8, 1869. near Ashland, Ill., son of John and Sarah Sinclair Beggs. He was graduated from Illinois College and Garrett Biblical Institute in Chicago. Rev. Beggs served as pastor of Methodist churches at Illiopolis, Palmyra, Mechanicsburg and Niantic. He was pastor of the Wesley Methodist church at Springfield seven years.
On Dec. 18, 1894, he was united in marriage with Minnie Taylor, who survives, together with three daughters, Mrs. Harry Bradley, Waupaca, Wis., Mrs. Harvey Abraham, Oshkosh, Wis., Mrs. William Waltman, Park Ridge. Ill., and six grandchildren. One daughter preceded him in death.
