Doris Mae Bateman Karnes, 92, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2018 in Clintwood, VA. Her youngest daughter, Shelley, was holding her hand as she made her way to her Lord. Doris was born September 16, 1925 to Florence and Arthur Bateman in Richmond, VA. She spent her younger years in Richmond, VA and later moved to Newport News. She also lived in both Louisa and Clintwood.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Carol Lee Parnell; granddaughter, Rhonda Jacuzzi; 2 sisters; her brother, and the love of her life, Owen Karnes.

She will patiently be waiting in Heaven for those left behind; daughters, Dorothy Bump (Richard), Peggy Ann Lovelace, and Shelley Powers (Norman); her son, Owen F. Karnes II (Veronica); grandchildren, Julie Libonate, Timothy Bump, Margaret Jaeb, Cathy Ballard, Christopher Parks, Angie Hamilton, Tina Young, Gary Lovelace, Brent Powers, Alex Powers, Daniel Powers, Owen Karnes III, Drew Karnes, Amanda Temmermand; and over 30 great and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Weymouth Funeral Home with interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
