Mr. Billy Pinder, 94, a resident of Union City, died Sunday afternoon, September 9, 2018, at Baptist Hospital in Union City.

Graveside services will be held at East View Cemetery on Thursday, September 13, 2018 with Dr. Douglas Norfleet officiating.

Mr. Pinder was born on June 10, 1924 in Key West, FL son of the late Robert and Edith (Knowles) Pinder. He married the former Ola Woodall on April 8, 1941. She passed away on August 8, 2002.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving in WWII in US Third Army under General George Patton. He worked as a transportation officer with the Civilian Naval Department and also served as special projects coordinator for the City of Key West, Fl. He is credited with designing the Southernmost Point Monument in Key West.

He was a member of the Masons, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, and National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was a former member of First United Methodist Church, Union City where he taught the Character Builders Sunday School Class for 18 years, and had also attended Sunswept Baptist Church.

Mr. Pinder is survived by four grandchildren: Valerie Ann Pinder Moore, Christina Marie Gonzalez, Jonathan Berlin Pinder, and Bobby Pinder; eight great-grandchildren: Wally Moore, Charles Moore, Jonathan Pinder, Jr., Kamryn Pinder, Jadyn Pinder, Damian Gonzalez, Aliyah Gonzalez, and Alyssa Pinder.

He was also preceded in death by his sons, Charles William Pinder, Jr., Roy Robert Pinder, Sr. and a grandson, Roy Robert Pinder, Jr.
