Born to William & Ruth Webster in Indiana. Solomon was the oldest of 11 known children. The family was among the first of Boone County, Iowa's earliest pioneers. The Websters settled in the southwest portion of Boonesboro owning a large tract of land for the time, approximately 100 acres, if this was recorded accurately.

Solomon Webster was one of a handful of manual laborers who worked for Thomas Sparks when Boonesboro was initially surveyed in 1851. For three days of carrying stakes, Solomon received $3.25.

These facts were learned by reading the digitized book, "The History of Boone County, Iowa" published 1880 by the Union Historical Company. See pages 609 & 863.
