MADISON - Mrs. Nolie Clorius Joyce, 99, a wonderful and loving mother, of 1544 Troy Joyce Road, Madison, died Friday, April 22, 2005, at Stokes-Reynolds Hospital.
Mrs. Joyce was born Oct. 12, 1905, in Stokes County, the daughter of Marvin Luther Joyce and Mattie Amos Joyce.
She was a homemaker and had worked briefly at Washington Mills. She was a member of Wilson Primitive Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Elva and Ethel; seven brothers, Leonard, Clarence, Clyde, Jimmy, Paul, Posey and Caleb; a grandchild, Jason; daughter Betty Throckmorton; son Norman Luther Joyce; and her husband, James Troy Joyce.
She is survived by her five children, Christine Grubbs of Winston-Salem, Madeline Nickelston of Madison, James Leroy Joyce of Mayodan, Josephine Heath and Joy Hamm, both of Madison; two brothers, Harold "Bill" Joyce and Marion Joyce; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 24, in the chapel of Ray Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Scott Courtney and Pastor Paul Hooker Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, April 23, at the funeral home and all other times at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to New Vision Fellowship Building Fund, 710 Rockingham Square, Madison, NC 27025. Ray Funeral Home of Madison is in charge of the arrangements.
