Joyce was born Oct. 3, 1929, in Sandy Ridge, N.C., to Marble Luther Joyce and Martha Amos Joyce.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jeanette C. Joyce, who died Feb. 10, 2011; a son, Jerry Allen Joyce; three sisters, Nolie Joyce, Ethel Martin and Elva Turner; and seven brothers, Clarence Joyce, Clyde Joyce, Paul Joyce, Posey Joyce, Hassel Joyce, Caleb Joyce and Jimmy Joyce.
He retired from American Furniture Co., where he worked for 34 years, and he was a member of Horsepasture Christian Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Cynthia Minter of Ridgeway, Wanda Moore of Copperas Cove, Texas, and Liz Hoskins of Granite Falls, Wash.; four sons, Mike Joyce, Frankie Joyce and Todd Joyce, all of Ridgeway, and Rodney Joyce of Spencer; one brother, Harold J. Bill Joyce of Ridgeway; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home in Martinsville is in charge of arrangements.
