In about 1855, he married Mary Elizabeth Freeburn, a Pennsylvania girl, and they were blessed with seven children.
On July 1, 1963, he signed up for the Civil War draft. He was married, and farming near Adams, in Darke County, Ohio.
In 1910, he and Mary were living on 1101 Cedar Street, in Atlantic, Iowa. Mary sadly explained to the census taker that though they had 7 children, only 6 were living. The 1910 US Census lists:

By 1920, they were living at 3601 So. 26th Street, Omaha, Nebraska. The 1920 US Census lists:

Silome J. 45, daughter, city school teacher, b. IL
On August 11, 1935, another daughter, Irene Susan Stacks (who was widowed from Alexander Alvin Stacks) died of hepatic carcinoma. She had been living at 1317 West 21st street in Des Moines, Iowa, and had been born January 8, 1860 in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.
