Funeral will be at noon Saturday, Oct. 7, 2017, at Village Chapel for Eva Johnson Durham, 90, Gadsden, who died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017. Pastor Tommy Marshall will officiate. Burial will follow at Forrest Cemetery. Village Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Eva was devoted to the Nazarene Faith. She was a big fan of Alabama football and NASCAR, and she loved Disney World. She loved God and her family, and she never met a stranger. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and she will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Johnson; son, Larry "Slouch" Johnson; grandson, David Denson; sister, Lucille Clontz; and brothers, James M. Freeman Jr. and Lawrence Freeman.
Eva is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Alan) Rogers and Tammy Parker; grandchildren, Devin Parker, Eva "Tootsie" Rogers, Annie Rogers, Cindy Deese, Pam (Robert) Milstead, Timmy (Kathy) Denson and Tommy (Martha) Denson; 14 great-grandchildren; special great-granddaughter Savannah Rogers, with whom Grammy enjoyed laying in bed watching TV and eating cheese puffs; 15 great-great-grandchildren; chosen brother, Robert McClure; daughter-in-law, Patricia Johnson; sister-in-law, Shirley Freeman; and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in her name.
Pallbearers will be Devin Parker; Tommy, Timmy and Stephen Denson; Andrew, Aaron and Riley Milstead; and Ethan Campbell.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday.
