Betty Jean (BJ) Miller

Betty Jean Miller age 78 of New Smyrna Beach, FL passed away on August 29, 2018. Born August 17, 1940 in Beckley, West VIrginia. BJ was the first of four children of Jay and WIlma Ballard.

Betty Jean grew up in Beckley, WV and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1958 where she met and married her future husband, T. Dwayne Wingler in 1961. They lived in Richmond, VA for 14 years where she attended the University of Richmond, worked for the C&P Telephone company and began a 31 year career in banking, retiring as Executive Vice President for Citrus National Bank, Crystal River, Florida.

In 1975, BJ met Jack Allen Miller on a blind date in Las Vegas, Nevada and they were married for 38 years until he passed away in April 2014. Travels in their various RV's took them all over the western United States that Jack loved. Las Vegas was their home for 13 years, eventually moving to Crystal River, Florida in 1988. They moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1995 where she owned a successful real estate and property management business.

BJ enjoyed her cats, Tashee, Jo-Jo and most recently Raggedy Andy. She also enjoyed live theater performances, the symphony, operas, European travel, planning parties for family and friends, and the beauty of the beach. She loved her church, Grace Baptist Church, Port Orange, FL and she often said that the church was part of her family because everyone was so friendly, caring and helpful, during her illness. BJ will be remembered for her beautiful smile and her remarkable generous and caring ways.

Betty Jean (BJ) was predeceased by her parents, Jay and Wilma Ballard and her brother Jay G Ballard and is survived by two sisters; Constance Meadows and her husband Richard of New Smyrna Beach, FL and Marita Ann Dorr of South Chesterfield, Va. and nephew, Richard Meadows, II of New Smyrna Beach, FL and nieces, Debbie Squires and Dawn Kilby of South Chesterfield Va.

Arrangements are under the careful direction of Baldwin Brothers Cremation Society. Interment will be at Jacksonville National Veterans Cemetery beside Jack .No flowers please, If desired, contributions may be made to the Hospice of your choice. According to BJ's wishes there will be no memorial service. "In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter and sharing of pleasures. For in the dew of little things the heart finds it's morning and is refreshed." (Kahalil Gibran)
