I. G. Crystal, pioneer Coon Rapids citizen and former state senator died December 25 at Saint Anthony's Hospital in Carroll where he'd been a patient since December 1st.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 28th, 10 a.m. at Annunciation Church in Coon Rapids with the Rev. Robert L. Dougherty officiating. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at the Huffman Funeral Chapel in Coon Rapids.

Mr. Crystal was born in Wapello County, Iowa, on September 27, 1885 and public school work, hotel business and farming were included among his occupations.

He was elected senator from the 48th senatorial district of Iowa and served until 1939 during the 45th, 45th extra, 46th and 47th General Assemblies of Iowa. He was very active in county politics in the Democratic party. He was also a director of the Iowa Savings Bank at Coon Rapids for many years. He made his home on his farm north of Coon Rapids, although he was retired from active farming.

Mr. Chrystal is survived by his wife, Julia; two sons, John Crystal of Coon Rapids; Tom Crystal of Scranton; and one daughter Mrs. W. R. Davis, Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Garst in 1936 and one daughter, Mary, in 1929.

Pallbearers will be Ted Jacobsen, Clarence Kennedy, William Keister, Matt Barron, Dan Welch, and Lee Miller. Honorary casket bearers will be Jake More, John R. Hansen, Lloyd Smith, James Marine, Alfred Thorup, Harry Cornish, Maurice Galloway and John Miller. Interment will be in the Coon Rapids Cemetery.
