Brother Walter entered New Melleray Abbey on 31 August 1946. He made his First Profession of Vows 19 March 1949 and his Solemn Profession of Vows 19 March 1952.

Br. Walter Schoenberg, our most senior monk, died during the vigil hours of this morning. We will formally receive his body before Sunday Vespers. We will celebrate his funeral Mass as our daily celebration of the Eucharist at 7 am Monday, June 4th.

Walter Schoenberg was born March 12, 1924 to Willie and Eleanora (Braun) Schoenberg on the family farm in Spring Hill, Minnesota.
