Entertainment Journalist. He was best known to television viewers as the host of "The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" from 1984 to 1995. Born Robin Douglas Leach, he wrote for The Harrow Observer while he was attending the Harrow County School for Boys, earning $6 a week at the newspaper after he graduated. He went on to become the youngest editor at London's Daily Mail at 18, later writing for the New York Daily News, Ladies' Home Journal and People magazine and editing for The Star after he moved to the U.S. in 1963. He got his start in television as regular contributor to the program "AM Los Angeles" with Regis Philbin and Sarah Purcell on KABC-TV in Los Angeles. After helping to launch the syndicated Entertainment Tonight program in the early 1980s, he co-created the program "The Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" with producer Al Masini in 1984. This program helped usher in the era of celebrity-focused reality series and culture and would last until 1995. He also did voice work on several television programs as well as made several appearances on various television series. He also made cameo appearances in several films during his career. He later wrote for the Las Vegas Sun newspaper and the Vegas Deluxe.com website. He was working at the Las Vegas Review-Journal at the time of his passing. He passed away after suffering a stroke.
