Major League Baseball Player. For eight seasons (1953 to 1957, 1959 and 1962 to 1963), he was a left-handed pitcher with the Washington Senators, Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Houston Colt .45s, Chicago White Sox and Baltimore Orioles. Born Darragh Dean Stone, he began playing baseball during his high school years and was signed as an amateur free agent by the Chicago Cubs in 1949. He ended up breaking into the Major Leagues with the Washington Senators on September 13, 1953 and the following season (1954), he distinguished himself when he achieved all star status, as he produced a career-high twelve wins. He was a member of the Houston Colt .45s during their inaugural season (1962) in the league. In 215 career regular season games, he compiled a 29 win, 39 loss record with a lifetime 4.47 ERA, in 686 innings pitched. Following his baseball career, he ran a landscaping business.
