Born in Winterbach, Germany Sept. 18, 1849, Mr. Emerich came to America and to Utica in 1882 and married Elizabeth Jacob in Utica 61 Years ago. She died in 1928.
A 50-year employe of the New York Central Railroad, he retired 20 years ago. He was the oldest membe of Zion's Lutheran Church and a charter member of its Young Men's Society.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss Anna Emerich, Utica; two sons Edward of Utica and Charles A. Emerich, Elmira: five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday from his late home. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Members of the Young Men's Society, Zion Lutheran Church will conduct a ritualisttic service at the home at 7:30 Wednesday night.
