He attended Knox College and took ovwer the family dry goods store located on Main Street. He married Emma Odell of Attica, Indiana; she died in 1937. The couple lived at 303 W. University and had no children. A Civil War veteran, Beasley servedc with Co. K, Illinois Volunteer Infantry. An active Free Mason,he was a member of Western Star Lodge No. 240 A.F. and A.M.
