A son of John S. and Emily (Devore) Beasley, he was raised on the Beasley farm located at the north end of Neil Street, Champaign, Illinois. He attended Knox College and took ovwer the family dry goods store located on Main Street. He married Emma Odell of Attica, Indiana; she died in 1937. The couple lived at 303 W. University and had no children. A Civil War veteran, Beasley servedc with Co. K, Illinois Volunteer Infantry. An active Free Mason,he was a member of Western Star Lodge No. 240 A.F. and A.M.
