Surprised and feted at their home on their 40th wedding anniversary were Mr. andMrs. Dale McMains. Hosting the party was their son Charles.

The McMains were married in Denison, Iowa on May 29, 1933 and came to Sumyside In 1946 where he was employed by the City of Suimyside until his retirement in 1966. They have one other son, Wilber Dale (Tod) McMains who is stationed with the United States Marine Corps in California.

Longtime City Employee Dale McMains, 63, Dies
W. Dale McMains, 63, of 708 S 5th St, Sunnyside died suddenly Sunday, March 2 at a local hospital.

Mr McMains was born on August 4, 1911 in Woodbine, Iowa. He attended high school in Morrhead, Iowa. On May 29, 1932 he and the former Iris Reynolds were married at Denaison, Iowa. Together they operated a restaurant in Woodvine, until 1943 when he entered the U.S. Army. They moved to Sunnyside in June 1946 after he was discharged from the army.

Mr McMains worked for the city for 21 years until his retirement in 1966. He was a former member of the sunnyside Volunteers Fire Department. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife Iris of Sunnyside, two sons, Dale Jr of the U.S. Marine Corps at Twenty Nine Palms, Calif and Charles R of Mount Vernon and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Funeral services are scheduled today (Thursday), at 2 pm in the Chapel of Erdman, McIntosh Ball of Sunnyside with the Rev Thomas Newton of the First Christians Church officiating.

Full Military honors will be accorded by the V.F.W.

Interment will be in the Sunnyside Cemetery under the directions of Erdman, McIntosh-Ball.

Bearers are Paul Woodyard, Don Smith, Lour Minton, don Montgomery, Dewayne Golden and Richard E Wilson. Honorary bearers are Clint Northrop, Ken LaGrandeur, P.F. Thompson, Roland Hemenway, Al Gatlin, Leo Yee, Merlin Graham the Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department and the V.F.W.
