Beverley “Bev” Houston Poore, of Lafayette, died on August 9, 2018 at Saint Anthony Rehabilitation & Nursing Center after spending the day surrounded by loved ones. He was born on May 9, 1936 in Tazewell, TN to the late Chester and Lula Mae Poore.

He moved to Lafayette with his wife, Eva Lorena (Wylie) Poore, shortly after their marriage on December 28, 1955; even after six decades together, he still smiled every time he mentioned how beautiful she was the first day he met her. He owned the Marathon Station on the corner of U.S. 52 and Schuyler Avenue for over 30 years, and he enjoyed talking with the customers he served there, including his many grandchildren that never left the station without a candy bar in hand. An avid gardener, he enjoyed nothing more than sharing the fruits and vegetables he grew with those he loved. He also enjoyed attending church at Buck Creek United Methodist Church, going on trips with his wife, having breakfast with his coffee club, and sharing time with his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters; one son; one brother; one sister; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitors will be received from 10:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Hippensteel Funeral Home located at 822 N. 9th Street, Lafayette, Indiana. Burial will take place afterwards at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette.
