First Cemetery in Middleport Twp. according to Beckwith's history. An area of 100 square feet adjoining the plat of the town of Middleport was given by Henry Troup and was fenced by JamSamuel A. Haviland

Note: Samuel A. Haviland was evidently travelling between his birth place of Haviland Hollow, NY and Canada when cousins lost track of him. In fact he settled in Illinois

183 SARAH TOWNER, (Samuel, Samuel, Richard) born Patterson, N.Y., in 1781; and married there, Elijah Haviland; she had a divorce from him about 1804, and married again Wright Knapp, of Patterson. She died Nov. 28, 1863. Mr. Knapp died June 10, 1859. Her children were :
369 Samuel Haviland, who went to Canada; not heard from more.
