Angelina (Gomes) Monteiro, 89, of Dartmouth passed away Wednesday August 1, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Monteiro.
Born in Pawtucket, RI, the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Francisca (Vieira) Gomes, she lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth for most of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Monteiro was formerly employed as a certified nursing assistant at Hallmark Nursing Home. She had also previously worked at Bristol Electronics.
She was a member of the OLOA Seniors Club.
She is survived by three sons, Steven Monteiro and his wife Maura of Worthington, MA, Jerome Monteiro of Texas, and John Monteiro and his companion Christine Sylvia of New Bedford; six daughters, Donna Allen and her husband Anthony of Boston, Kaye Washington and her husband Thaddeus of Goldsboro, NC, Jo-Ann Monteiro of Dartmouth, Angela Millwood and her husband Calvin of Philadelphia, PA, Josephine Monteiro of Dartmouth and Christine LeBlanc and her husband Gerard of New Bedford; a son-in-law, Michael Young of Newport News, VA; a sister, Mary L. Gomes of New Bedford; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Beatrice Young and the sister of the late John Gomes, Mary Harris, Antonia Lopes, Frank Gomes, Alice Gomes, and Maria Vieira.
Her Funeral will be held on Monday August 6, 2018 at 8 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM.
