Aged Fremont Matron Dies
ST. ANTHONY, Sept. 4 - Mrs. Elizabeth Jane Clark Young, 81, a resident of Fremont County since 1888, died Monday night in a St. Anthony hospital of causes incident to age.
She was born at Benson Ward, Cache County, Utah, Dec 18, 1872, a daughter of Cyrus E. and Eliza Stokes Clark. After her mother died she was reared by her grandparents and at 13 years
of age hired out as a housekeeper at $1.25 a week.
In 1888 she moved to Idaho settling at Teton City where she continued to work, moving later to Twin Groves. She attended a dressmaking school receiving a certificate as a seamstress.
She was married to Stillman Young at Wilford Jan 1, 1894. The Marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.
At the time of their marriage they homesteaded a place at Twin Groves and Mr. and Mrs. Young lived there until the time of his death.
All of her life she has been an active member of the LDS Church and was the first president of the Young Women's Mutual Improvement Ass. at Twin Groves. later she served as Relief Society president of Twin Groves and also a member of the Yellowstone Stake Relief Society board. Also during her early days she was a Sunday School Teacher and an active genealogical worker.
Surviving are six sons and daughters. They are Mrs. Fount Gorman, Los Angeles, Calif., Cyrus Young and Lester Young, Twin Groves; Mrs. Eunice Goulding, St. Anthony; Mrs. Blanche Edginton and Mrs. Beulah Fisher, Ashton. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; three brothers T. J. Clark, Burley; E. E. Clark, Los Angeles, Calif., and Lawrence Clark, Garland, Utah; two sisters, Mrs. Maude White, Bingham City, Utah and Mrs. Mary Maruneau. Pocatello.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Twin Groves LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop William Huskinson of the Twin Groves Ward officiating.
Friends may call at the Hansen Funeral Home until 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in the Wilford Cemetery under the direction of the Hansen Funeral Home of St. Anthony.
