Philipine “Phyllis” Koontz, age 100 of Naperville, formerly of Chicago, passed away peacefully, Sunday, July 8, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Residence of Naperville. She was born August 5, 1917 in Chicago, IL to her loving late parents, Gaetano and Santina Nigrelli.
Cherished wife of the late John W. Koontz.
Loving mother of Jacquelyn Johnsen of Woodridge, IL.
Adored grandma of Kari (Michael) Criswell of Downers Grove, IL.
Fond sister of Marian (the late August) DiCicco of Chicago and the late Mary (the late Walter) Haase. Dear aunt of Thomas and Terry Haase and Noreen Ferentz.
Phyllis graduated from Foreman High School, Chicago, class of 1935. She had a passion for sewing that brought her into a career as a dress maker for a boutique shop on Michigan Avenue. She also worked as a book keeper for Ekco Housewares in Franklin Park. Phyllis loved to dance and especially ball room dancing. She enjoyed music, traveling and especially being Italian!
