LEWIS ANDREW “Sam” GALLION, 86, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Meritus Medical Center, near Hagerstown, Md. Born March 10, 1932, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was the son of the late Charles G. and Goldie (Harden) Gallion.

He attended school in Berkeley Springs. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1956 through 1958. Following his military service, he was employed with Hepburn Orchards in Hancock, until his retirement. Sam enjoyed watching baseball, old westerns, and country music shows on television and taking rides into the country looking for deer; but, he especially enjoyed his family visits on Sundays.

He is survived by his loving granddaughter, Angela McBee, whom he raised; a stepson, David Leach; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; and many very special people who welcomed him into their family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine Gallion, who died in 1988; his special companion of 30 years, Jessie L. Bishop Gallion; three brothers, Charles, Emerson and James; six sisters, Mildred, Hester, Nonnie, Thelma, Hazel and Helen; a stepson, Thomas Leach; daughter, Gloria (Gallion) Anderson; and one stepgrandson, David Leach Jr.

Funeral services will be held at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. Burial, with military honors by the Tri-State Honor Guard, will follow at Woodrow Cemetery in Paw Paw, WV.
