Herman Sylvester Hudson, 85, of Palmyra, Missouri, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018, at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Palmyra. Father Basil Eruo will officiate. Burial with Full Military Rites will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Palmyra. The Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday, June 25, 2018, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM, at Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel in Palmyra.

Herman was born December 14, 1932, in rural Hannibal, MO, to Everett C. and Anna Shear Hudson.

He was married to Martha Scheveling on November 24, 1955, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Palmyra, MO. She survives.

Other survivors include 1 Daughter, Elaine Marie Widaman, Palmyra, MO, 2 Sons, Everett Henry Hudson (Heather), Palmyra, MO, Herman Sylvester Hudson II (Heather D.), Palmyra, MO, 3 Brothers, Kenneth Hudson, Hannibal, MO, Gilbert Hudson, Hannibal, MO and Ted Hudson (Theresa), Palmyra, MO, 2 Sisters, Alma Johnston, Hannibal, MO, and Marie Thorington, Palmyra, MO, 8 Grandchildren, Nicole Grindstaff, Eden Etteldorf, Emily Barrick, Elizabeth Gause, Everette "Buddy" Hudson, Rhianna Hudson, Brennan Hudson, Cainnon Hudson, 10 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild on the way.

He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers Arthur, Paul, Clarence, Harold and Urban, 1 sister Margaret, 2 sons, George and Joseph Hudson.

Herman worked at Gardner Denver for 43 years, retiring in 1999.

He was a coon hunter and enjoyed fishing. He farmed his whole life on his family farm which he later purchased in 1983.

Herman enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hudson, Gilbert Hudson, Jr., Steve Hudson, Dennis Hudson, Bill Hudson, Dale Hudson, Rock Hudson, and Kenny Ray Hudson.
