Ralph L. Jaycox, 58, of Elyria, brother of Wanda Kelling and Carol Kochof, Amherst, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at EMH Regional Medical Center, Elyria, following a brief illness.
He was born in Sept. 28, 1943, in Oberlin, and was a lifelong Lorain County resident, living most of his life in Elyria.
Mr. Jaycox was employed by Oberlin College as a stock room attendant for 15 years and owned Jaycox Racing in Amherst, devoted to supermodified car competition. He was an avid NASCAR fan.
Surviving include his wife of 38 years, Sharon [nee Carmen]; daughter, Vicki L. Thomas of Brunswick; sons Richard I. Jaycox of North Carolina and Kevin M. Jaycox of Elyria; sisters Wanda Kelling and Carol Koch, both of Amherst, and Bonnie Luckey of Texas; brother, Elmer Jaycox of Spencer; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Doris [nee Kelley] Jaycox.
Services were held Thursday at Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home in Elyria. Burial was at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
