Patsy Lyle Hollifield, 85, of Malone went to ne with the Lord and Saviour on Sunday, June 10, 2018. The family will receive friends from 8-9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Wade Funeral home in Hubbard, with graveside services to follow at 10 a.m. at Cottonwood Cemetery.

Patsy was born on July 25, 1932 to Herman Augustine and Johnnie Mae Fieseler. She was raised on a black land cotton farm in rural Malone, where she lived most of her entire life. She married Wilburn Maddox and to their union were born four children, Orvie Ray Maddox, Deborah Ann Davidson, Gregory Scott Maddox, and LaTresa Elliott. Patsy later married Harold Hollifield until his passing in 1992.

Patsy worked for over 32 years at Tom’s Food in Corsicana, and upon retirement worked in the Hubbard ISD Cafeteria for 12 years. She was a woman of great courage, loyalty and laughter. She did not hesitate in disciplining her children or grandchildren up to the end of her life. She loved her Malone First Baptist Church and did not miss attending unless she was sick. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and going to estate and garage sales. She lived a simple life fueled by her total commitment to her family and church. Her home was always full of excitement with visitors in and out, and she always made you feel as if she had been waiting to see you when you arrived.

All of our childhood days we were told how good God was and how good He had been to our Mother, as well as the generations before her. We never knew a moment when her love and support was not present in our lives and we were accepted without question or doubt. As children she was our support, our disciplinarian, and our source of unconditional love. Through many hard and difficult times we always found it refreshing to come “home”. It is now her physical absence that we truly realize our rich inheritance of having had a Christian, loving and faithful mother, and it is overwhelming. The memories will remain alive throughout the generations: of the fun Christmas gatherings each year with the many laughs at Mamaws house!

So it is with our everlasting love and gratitude, that we offer all praise and glory to the God of heaven and earth. We are so grateful for His saving grace, that has allowed us to be honored with her as a mother, who believed in the promises of God, and walked the walk, that her children and grandchildren, and generations to come would believe as well.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Harold Hollifield, five brothers, four nephews, her grandson Justin Ellison, and many relatives and friends.

Survivors include her sister Jodi Watson and husband, Lonnie of Mexia; sister, Sue Schulze and husband, Eddie Ray of Malone; son, Orville “Orvie” Maddox and wife, Joyce of Dawson; daughter, Deborah Davidson and husband, Royce of Bridgeport; son, Gregory Maddox of Malone; daughter, LaTresa Elliott of Ft. Worth; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous other extended family members and friends.

Pallbearers will be: Judd Ellison, Darrell Fieseler, Ben Blakely, David Bow, Dickey Sorrell, and Mickey Howell. Honorary pallbearer will be Curtis Ellison.
