Emilie Alexander, 75, Yukon, formerly of Duke, passed away on Tuesday, June 5, 2018, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 9, 2018, at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Prairie Hill Cemetery, south of Duke, under the direction of Kincannon Funeral Home.
Emilie Choate was born on February 23, 1943, in Hartshorne, Oklahoma. She lived in the Baptist Children's Home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma from 1945-1953 and attended Oklahoma City schools through the fourth grade before moving to Duke to live with Ernest and Minnie (Thacker) Phelps, who later adopted her in 1956. She graduated from Duke High School in 1961. She married Jerry Alexander on July 23, 1961, in Duke, Oklahoma. Emilie was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of the Spotswood Baptist Church in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandkids.
Emilie is preceded in death by her parents, Minnie and Ernest Phelps; her biological father, Robert Choate; a grandson; Jacob Alexander; two sisters, Imogene and Corrina; and two brothers, Leroy and Bill.
She is survived by her husband, two daughters, a son, seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two brothers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
