KOOSHAREM, UTAH--Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor and friend, Charles Ivan Torgerson, 81, of Koosharem, Utah, passed away February 25, 1999, in Panguitch, Utah.

He was born December 22, 1917, in Alunite Mills, south of Marysvale, Utah, to Anton and Hilda Olivia Gulbransen Torgerson. He married Wilma Brindley, July 10, 1940, in Richfield, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. Ivan has been a life long resident of Koosharem, where he has served on the town board and also on the boards of the Irrigation and canal companies. He was a member of the Koosharem Old Folks Committee for 14 years and along with his wife, Wilma, served as chairman for 3 years. He was employed by the U.S. Forest Service for 14 years. He was a heavy equipment operator in construction work for 23 years and helped to build the freeways that people travel on today.He was an active member of the LDS church where his service included work in the Sunday School and Elders Quorum presidencies.

He was an active man and loved to work hard. He loved his farm and being involved in the cattle business. His health has been failing him for the past 8 years and he has been in and out of hospitals and rest homes during this time.

He is survived by Wilma, his loving wife of 59 years, of Koosharem; children, Chad B. and Anne Torgerson, Koosharem; Coleen and Wells Bagley, Loa; Vione and Thomas Migel, Rexburg, ID; Kendall and Dayna Torgerson, Circleville; Tony and Leslie Torgerson, Richfield; daughter-in-law, Merdiee Torgerson, Battle Mountain, NV; 22 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ione Henrie, Kearns; Reba Edwards, Corpus Christi, TX; Lula DeLong, Moab; Aleen Okerland, Richfield; many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son, Don Ivan Torgerson; three sisters, Bertha Rich, Thelma Lucile Hansen, Jean Dall; brother, Herbert Torgerson and parents.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at 1 p.m. in the Koosharem LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the Ward Chapel in Koosharem Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in the Koosharem Cemetery.
