LONE GROVE — Home Going Services for Mr. Marion Gale Cox, 83, of Lone Grove are scheduled for Monday, June 4, 2018, at the Lone Grove Assembly of God Church with Bro. Gary Gunsolus, Bro. Gary Dotson and Bro. Dwain Duck officiating. Interment will follow at the Lone Grove West Memorial Cemetery with grandson Ethan Cox officiating. Services are under the direction and care of Alexander Funeral Home of Wilson.

Gale was born on September 24, 1934, at Oswalt to the late Mr. C.A. "Punch" Cox and Mrs. Gladys Pearl Gray. He departed this life Wed. May 30, 2018, at a healthcare facility in Oklahoma City.

Raised in Fort Worth until moving to Greenville where was recruited by Hap Cox to play basketball. There he met the love of his life, the former Ms. Christine Morton. They married at the age of 17 on Dec. 15, 1951, at Gainesville, Texas. They continued to attend school at Greenville where they both were employed and resided. Gale worked as a bus driver and Christine worked as a janitor. Upon graduating high school Gale attended college at Southeastern in Durant where he played basketball for one year. During this time Gale enlisted into the U.S. Army Reserves, serving honorably for four years.

Gale was employed for Samedan for 27 years, retiring from the accounting and payroll department. Gale received his Bachelors degree in Education while working for Samedan from Southeastern. One of his most favorable accomplishments in life beyond being saved by the Lord was obtaining his Pilot's Solo Flight on Dec. 25, 1975. He had also been very instrumental in acquiring the land and building the Gymnasium of where the Lone Grove Junior High is presently at. He served for many years on the Lone Grove School Board as the President and as a member. Gale always was a member of the Assemblies of God Church and presently was a member of the Lone Grove Assembly of God Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents and most recently his wife Christine of 66 years, who passed away on March 25, 2018.

Survivors include his daughter Robin Callis and husband Merle of Lone Grove; sons, Richard Cox and wife Darla and Steve Cox all of Lone Grove; sisters, Panzy Dudley and husband Robert and Fern Craig and husband Mike, all of Azle, Texas; 9 grandchildren, Tracy, Leslie, Kevin, Katie, Heather, Pepper, Levi, Ethan and J. Brooke; 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Casket Bearers will be Johnny Ray Tynes, Jimmy Gale Tynes, Donell Cox, John Bennett, Bobby Dennis Cox and Donald Cox.

Honorary Bearers Kevin Cox, Levi Callis, Ethan Cox, Waymon Woodly, Joe Bob Bennett and Johnny Meloy.
