Sarah Thompson was born in Ontario, Canada in 1867 to parents Oron Thompson and Mary Foster. Records show that she was one of seven children, siblings: William Thompson (1866-?), George Thompson (1870-1941), Samuel Thompson (1872-1950), Biard Thompson (1874-1898), Margaret Thompson (1876-1923), and James Thompson (1878-1886).

In the 1880's, her and her family moved to North Tonawanda, New York, USA. Her youngest brother James dies on April 17, 1886 in Dufferin, Ontario, Canada, so the family likely moved to the States after this time.

On December 6, 1889, Sarah married James Becker (record #5128). They had 4 children together: Oren Becker, James Becker, Walter Becker, and George Becker.

In 1897, James Becker Sr. died. After his death, Sarah remarried, but not much is known of her second spouse. Her headstone has her last name as Swartz, and there are marriage records from North Tonawanda, New York, USA (Certificate Number 2059) of a Sarah Thompson/Becker marrying a William H. Swartz on February 2, 1901.

Neither Sarah's obituary nor her death certificate has yet been located, however, the New York death index indicates that Sarah died on October 7, 1904 in North Tonawanda, New York, USA (Certificate Number 43154).

Of her four children, Oren Becker moved to Canada and married Cecine Whitebear of Temagami, James remained in the States and married Katharine Nye, Walter remained in the States and married Mary Jane Jennie Taylor, and details are to be discovered of what came of George.
