                         OBITUARY
Biddle—
Henry Biddle, who died at his home 12 miles northeast of Hiawatha, Monday, Oct. 18, a few minutes before noon, expired while walking from his home to the mail box. Monday morning he was in his usual health, his death was such a severe shock to his companion she became ill Tuesday morning and had to take to her bed.
Samuel Biddle was born in Pennsylvania 80 years ago. The Biddles settled here in 1874 on the farm where he died. Besides the widow he is survived by the following children: C. W. Biddle, Hiawatha; Mrs. David Phillips, Netawaka; Mrs. C. L. Idol and Mrs. Charles Gilmore, who live in Irving township; Mrs. Owen Picton, who with her husband, lives on the Biddle farm; George Biddle, who is at home, and Samuel Biddle, of Fresno, Calif.
Mt. Zion neighborhood feels more keenly the death of Mr. Biddle than any other section of Brown county, for it was there he lived more than 45 years and his Christian influence was felt. Henry Biddle perhaps is the last charter member of Mt. Zion church. He was a pillar to the church. Mt. Zion folks almost looked to Mr. Biddle as their great guiding hand in affairs pertaining to their church. They knew he was fair and just and all members of the church had the greatest respect for him. A son said of him: "Ever since I was a boy big enuf to remember anything, we had family worship every morning and we never sat down to a meal without having thanks returned. It mattered not how many threshers or hired help there might be, family worship was held."
Mr. and Mrs. Biddle had planned on spending coming winter in California with their son, Sam. They expected to leave here within the next 2 weeks.
Funeral arrangements will not be made until word comes from the son in California.

Samuel Biddle arrived in Hiawatha Saturday from California to be present at the funeral of his father, Henry Biddle, which will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from Mt. Zion church. It was Tuesday morning when Samuel Biddle had telephone conversation with C. W. Biddle in Hiawatha. The past season he had 18 tons which he sold at $300 a ton. It was 15 years ago when he bot his land at $200 an acre. He recently refused an offer of $80,000 for it.
