He had been in ill health for several years.
He was born May 3, 1900, at White Cloud, the son of Thomas and Melvina Hughlitt Arnold.
He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and worked as a house painter with the J. C. Nichols Company in Kansas City, Mo., for many years before retiring to ArborKnoll in 1968.
He was a member of the Painters Union -_61 of Kansas City.
Survivors include three nephews, Forrest Arnold of Boliver, Mo., Arnold Shonyo and Charles Shonyo, both of rural Highland; two nieces, Miss Lorene Shonyo of Highland and Mrs. Lucille Krey of rural Hiawatha.
Funeral services will be held at the Casselman-Meek Funeral Home, at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, January 9, with the Rev. Don C. Johnson officiating.
Interment will be at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Mt. Zion community.
