CANDLE STARTS FATAL SHARON SPRINGS FIRE
LITTLE FALLS, N. Y., July 12, 1911— Mrs. George Klinkhart of Sharon Springs lost her life in a fire this morning that destroyed a hardware store and the Sharon Springs Opera House. The fire was started by a lighted candle held by Mrs. Klinkhart, who was searching for some varnish The fire department was called out, and when the flames were extinguished the body of Mrs. Klinkhart was found, grasping a book. The opera house was gutted. Sharon Springs is a well-known health resort.

WOMAN IS CAUGHT IN BLAZING STORE TRYING TO RESCUE A CASH REGISTER
Fort Plain, July 12, 1911- In trying to get the cash register out of the burning store of her husband at Sharon Springs last night, Mrs. George Klinkhart was buried when the blazing building collapsed. Her charred body was recovered today, nine hours later. A can of gasoline in the rear of the store exploded shortly before 7 o'clock last night and in a few seconds, the flames had spread over the store. When the fire was well under way, Mrs. Klinkhart ran into the store to recover the cash register. She was returning with it when the building collapsed and she was lost sight of in the blazing ruins. The remains were found this morning close beside the melted and twisted register.

Canajoharie, May 1905 The marriage of Frederick William Kettler, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Kettler, and proprietor of The Chocolate Shop, to Miss Eunice Klinkhart, of Sharon Springs, daughter of the late George Klinkhart, took place Saturday evening at 8:30 o'clock. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J.S. Herold, pastor of St. John's Lutheran church at the home on Walnut Street that has been being made ready for Mr. and Mrs. Kettler. -The witnesses were the parents of the bridegroom and Anna Klinkhart, of Fort Plain, the oldest sister of the bride. Mr. and Mrs. Kettler are popular young people.
