Lois Simmons Hughey, age 88 of St. Cloud, Florida passed from this life on Saturday, May 19, 2018. A member of a Pioneer Osceola County family, Lois was born in Kissimmee, Florida, on September 24, 1929 the daughter of Hardy Lee Simmons and Lily Yates Simmons and was a lifelong fifth generation Osceola County resident.
She is the last of seven children who preceded her in death: Virginia, Lee, Lilburn, Luie, Loretta and Lila. She was also preceded in death by her husband James A. Hughey who she married in Kissimmee in 1947.
Together they managed a successful livestock trucking company in Kissimmee and also in Wauchula County. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church, Kissimmee and a member of the Silver Spurs Club. Being the outgoing lady she was, her parting saying was, " The party is over here, but we will have a big celebration in Heaven!". She truly loved the Lord and loved serving Him. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and loved all of her friends and pretty much anyone she met.
She is survived by her sons, Ken (Deena) Hughey of Osceola County, Florida, and
Bill (Joan) Hughey of Brooks, Georgia; her 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 24, 2018 in Rose Hill Cemetery, Kissimmee with the Reverend Will Troutman and Reverend Glen Rogers officiating.
There will be no formal visitation.
