Mr. Velee Carter, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, May 17, 2018. He was born in Baxley, Georgia and has resided in Jacksonville since 1947.
Velee retired in 1990 with 39 years service with Ryder Truck Lines and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 512. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.
Velee was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Carter, parents: John & Ora Carter; son, Randy Carter and brother, Eugene Carter. Surviving family include his daughter & son-in-law, Renee & Ray Spaulding; 3 grandchildren: Heather (Jonathan) Hannah, Christopher Carter, Jason Akins; 5 sisters: Doris Owen, Juanita Vosburgh, Joyce Carter, Evelyn Seymour and Gloria (Richard) Rains; 1 brother: Troy (Elizabeth) Carter and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Oceanway Assembly of God with Rev. Ken Barney, officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery. His family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Oceanway Assembly of God. Peeples Family Funeral Homes is serving the Carter Family.
