Husband of Olive Ash Maust, Father of Patricia Maust Knapik Vandervoort, Gloria Maust, Marsha Maust Webreck, Barbara Maust George, Gerald Maust, Ryan Maust, Brian Maust and Chris Maust. He was born in Stonycreek Township in the same house where he left this world. Francis was a 1944 graduate of Berlin-Brothersvalley High School. he served in the Message Center of the 5th Service Depot Fleet in the Pacific from August 7, 1945 to January 10, 1947. He was called up with his US Army Reserve unit to serve as a drill instructor during the Korean Conflict. Francy, as he was called by his friends, was active in the American Legion serving in many offices on the District and State levels in Pennsylvania. He worked his way through the ranks at the Post Office in Berlin finally retiring after working as the Postmaster. Francis attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin, where he was a past Sunday school superintendent and council member. He was a life member and commandant of Detachment 660 Marine Corps League, life member and chaplain of Berlin American Legion Post 445, life member of VFW Post 554, Somerset, member of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department; Berlin IOOF Lodge, The Last Man's Club; Harmonaires (men's Gospel singing quartet), member of the Mountain Field and Stream Club of Roxbury, and member of the New Baltimore Sportsmen's Club. Francis was a member and chaplain of Somerset-Cambria Fire Police and was a past treasurer and president of Shanksville-Stonycreek School Board.
