Jane Schuurman, age 91, a resident of Speculator, entered her heavenly home on Monday May 14, 2018 at her home with her loving family and caregivers by her side.
She was born in Wyckoff, NJ on June 10, 1926, the daughter of the late Barney and Margaret Hagedorn Van Deweert.
Jane was predeceased by her husband Edward Schuurman on November 4, 2014.
Survivors include her children: Joyce (Phil) Mulleedy of Speculator, Edward (Joyce) Schuurman Jr. of Oxford, Brenda (Keith) McIntyre of Lake Pleasant and Debra (Dan) Williams of Lake Pleasant. Eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren also survive her.
She was last employed as an administrative assistant for the Adirondack-Appalachian Regional EMS office in Speculator and retired at age 85.
Jane loved her Lord and loved to teach children about Jesus. She was a longtime Sunday School teacher, Pioneer Girl leader and she founded and led Friday Afternoon Bible Club at Grace Methodist Church in Speculator for many years.
She always put others before herself and showed that care in many ways throughout her life.
She was a member of the Speculator Ambulance Corps for many years serving as a volunteer EMT and Paramedic.
Burial will follow in Speculator Cemetery, Speculator.
